Come celebrate the recent publications of new work by three brilliant Cave Canem poets. Recipient of the 2019 Josephine Miles Award from PEN Oakland, James Cagney is the author of Black Steel Magnolias in The Hour of Chaos Theory , a debut collection of which poet Connie Post says, "There is much to behold in this masterful book...." Poet and visual artist Xandria Phillips' debut collection, HULL, is praised by poet Thylias Moss for being "brilliantly executed. Everything precise. Xandria Phillips is no ordinary architect.” Cedric Tillman is the author of two poetry collections, most recently, IN MY FEELINS, praised by author Alan Michael Parker for holding "fabulous poems of candor and jump, muscle and song." ...

Come celebrate the recent publications of new work by three brilliant Cave Canem poets. Praised by Cave Canem faculty Chris Abani as "a quietly brilliant poet," Geffrey Davis' most recent poetry collection Night Angler is winner of the 2018 James Laughlin Award. Camonghne Felix is author of Build Yourself a Boat, a collection of which poet Morgan Parker says "heralds a thrillingly new form of storytelling.”  Ladan Osman, who poet Danez Smith says is "one of the most alive minds in poetry today," is author of two full-length collections, most recently, Exiles of Eden.

Hear two exceptional poets read from and discuss their work in this intimate meeting-of-the-minds, co-presented with Kundiman. Lillian-Yvonne Bertram is a Cave Canem fellow and author of Personal Science (Tupelo Press, 2017). Jennifer Chang's Some Say the Lark (Alice James Books, 2017) won the 2018 William Carlos Williams Award, and was long-listed for the PEN Open Book Award. Cave Canem fellow Camonghne Felix moderates.
