Was Jesus

a mama’s boy?

And is it sinful to ask?

Since he was born to a young virgin

is it wrong to wonder

Where would his machismo come from?

Or ask if this was an extra cross he had to bear--

To carry himself

through the make-up of his young mother?

Did this kill him

that he was not the rugged type of carpenter

but a slight man

who walked on water--

Was there an ache inside him

to prove

like he did those 40 days and nights

roughing it alone in the desert

that he could lift this entire world

on his shoulders

and die on that cross

like a man
