Poem
DOOMY’S DREAM LOVER (TO IRINA)
III.
You flip through
the brief chapter
of my accomplishments.
When arriving
at the lengthy section
dedicated to all my past
mistakes, you pull
out different color pens.
Finally, a woman
not so quick
to burn the book
but brave enough
to underline salient
sentences & jot
notes in the margins.
IV.
Although I’ve lost
the receipt for my cool
façade, I thank you
for allowing
me to exchange
this useless item
for a heart-shaped
lamp I can display
in front of the fellas.
