Biography
Work has appeared in Chattahoochee Review, Kenyon Review, Gettysburg Review, Obsidian II:Black Literature in Review, Beyond the Frontier, and The Ringing Ear: Black Poets Lean South, among others. Named a Breadloaf Tuition Scholar and nominated for the Pushcart Prize in fiction. Winner of the 2007 Paumanok Prize in Poetry. Recipient of grants from the Barbara Deming Memorial fund and the Alabama State Council on the Arts. Hold a BA in History from Yale University and an MFA in fiction from the University of Alabama. Live in Indiana. Working on an alternate history novel, Jesus Jones, in which black people are the first monotheists.
