Biography
Mahogany has four LPs including the international hit Black Secret Soul and the newest live album Sheroshima. As co-founder of the Off Broadway poetry production, Jam On It, and co-producer of NYC’s 1st Performance Poetry Festival: SoundBites Poetry Festival, Mahogany bridges the gap between lyrical poets and literary emcee. Her freelance journalism can be found in magazines KING, XXL, Uptown, The Source, Canada's The Word and UK's MOBO. She also facilitates performance poetry and writing workshops throughout the country, focusing on women empowerment and youth mentoring. She recently purchased PoetCD.Com, an on-line marketing and distribution company for poets and is the host and curator at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe.

i loved the sound of its arroganceall pulpy and round against the windtwo g'sno rjust an aand it felt like hometil i heard it in its birth given nametwo g'sno aending with a rough ri ain't neva liked to hear it againsound too much like:absent daddies,and a score of lifelesstongues wagging, a fleshy mosquito trap; bitten and scabrousjust like that rand i know our mamas ain't birth noniggas...i know we wasn't put here to be proud of such a certain death
